Authors Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson lead their readers to a new awareness of the true owner and source of life. Through personal examples and hundreds of heartwarming stories of selfless living, the reader is challenged to move from living a life of dull routine to a life filled with passion and the pursuit of purposeful adventure filled living.
The underlying theme of the book is the life story of the reader and how this relates to God’s bigger story. The reader is: encouraged to record his passions, purpose, priorities and values; to examine how they connect with other’s stories; to recognize resources to help, with others, write new endings to their stories; and commit to making a difference beyond life here on earth.
The authors encourage the reader to write the “rest of the story” of their own lives by using the questions at the end of each chapter to record personal responses to soul-searching questions that incorporate what they know into action steps for serving others.
I personally appreciated the reminder that, “Regardless of who we are, everything we do and say every day can have significant value.” I became motivated to become intentionally and passionately aware of opportunities to influence and impact lives in the “everyday intersections” of my life.
Rick and Eric write in an easy- to-read style that will help the reader to assimilate and apply these important principles personally. It is rich in example for the questioning seeker as well as the mature Christian. This is a book that will help you discover your potential and motivate you to fulfill God’s intended purpose for your “life on loan.”
“Living a Life on Loan” is filled with profound truths, clearly articulated, simply illustrated with practical stories of serving others, building relationships, and earning the right to share your faith.

Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson remind us how vital it is to be active in the community. Yes, we can make a difference in our corner of the world – one person at a time. Living a Life on Loan reminded me that I need to use my God given abilites to help others around me.

This is a book for those seeking to connect thier sense of purpose, sense of faith, and sense of community into a plan for thier journey forward. It’s written in a simple, no nonsense, connect-the-dots style. It is written for the common man, of which I consider myself. Compels me to action. A must read.

My Sunday School Class had a six week class on this book. I did not have the book at this time. I had to have this book so I could read it over and over any time I felt the need to remember my LIFE is On Loan.
